'Wash out period' from Avonex to Tysabri

I am seriously considering changing my treatment, I have been on Avonex for almost 5 years and while having a relapse for a few months I have decided to change, I have a doc appt in a couple of weeks to get the ball rolling, but I wonder how much time they usually have between one med to the next. I called Biogen/Idec, the manufacturer of both meds, but they said its up to the Doc.

Anyone out there to give me a ball park estimate? Thanks!

Hope this helps..

Curious,

When I was on Betaseron for about 5 yrs my doc advised me to come off for one month prior to starting Tysabri. That was of course 3 yrs ago when I first started Tysabri so this could be out dated since it was some time back.

Best wishes I really have enjoyed going for a treatment once a month personally.

TC
