Pregnant and in limbo

Hi everyone

I'm new here, but hoping to find some support. I'm 27 and in my ninth month of pregnancy with our first child. I had my first probable-MS attack less than a month ago, which I understand is pretty unusual during pregnancy. I had optic neuritis in my right eye, followed by some tingling sensations on my right face/hands/leg. Because of the severity of the ON + sensations, they strongly recommended IV steroids, which was a stressful decision while pregnant! My vision is getting better slowly, though I still have physical sensations daily.

I'm waiting to deliver before they get me an MRI, so it's been a very stressful time. If this is MS, I'd like to sort out some treatments as soon as possible... but with breastfeeding, a hard situation has become more complicated.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Hopefully I can get to know some of you more in time.

If anyone has any resources for mothers or parents, I'd love for you to share them!

resources

I do not really have any resources for you, but would like to congratulate you and welcome you and your bundle of joy here. I pray that it is not MS, but if it is, we will all be here for you for any questions, support or anything you might need.

Hi and welcome to the board. I hope that you get a dx that isn't mS. But if you need some info regarding MS and pregnancy and so on, go to overcomingmultiplesclerosis.org. I found some interesting info on that site last night.
One question, Have you been taking folic acid supplements throughout your pregnancy? Have you had your vitamin D levels checked? Read about this stuff on the web, you'll find interesting facts. Good luck

WELCOME ELIZABETHWIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great to have you here, but sorry why.
I know that others have asked about pregnancy and MS issues. If you look in the archives (just enter the keyword pregnancy) you should find a few articles and get some ideas of what others did.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Good luck to you.

yes, i've been taking folic acid throughout my pregnancy and for several months prior.

i haven't had my vitamin D levels checked but i intend to ask my doc this week when i see her. i have been taking vitamin D supplements. before this flare it was about 1000 IU, now i'm taking closer to 3000 IU, but of course knowing where my levels are would be helpful. i live in a very cloudy/rainy area and rarely see the sun, so i would be very surprised if my levels were normal.
