"Category Three Hurricane"

by Jaclyn Henderson, aka JackieLani

My life with M.S. seems like a constant
Category 3 Hurricane.
Not 1 or 2, for this passed by before,
while I was trimming the roses, I think.

But today, again, we spoke for a minute
about my living in an
Adult Day Health Care Center.
And on T.V. was another grist for the mill
appearance of what humans do to each other--
A levy breaks from a fierce and constant wind,
but what set the levee out in the storm
in the first place?  Loneliness and Ignorance.

An inability to cope with your silence.
What can one do when all that moves
unmoving life stays away from you?
Innocent wondering about the storm
increases the storm questioning its own grace.
Don't worry though, this won't take long.
It's just another wind gust.
It'll stop later.  Just deal with it now.
