"cognitive breakdown"

by ldwilson, aka Loren
28 feb 1998

now it takes longer
to do
the thing
should be easy
can I call this
cognitive failure?
due to disease
might be convenient
when things start failing
to blame it
on the disease process?

the ugly soul mate
living, sometimes quiet
then again
rearing its ugly head
bearing the fruits
of confusion
    in anger, loneliness
emotional outbursts
features of cognitive failure
    ain't it great?

waking up
as it starts to calm
realizing ...
    how weird you have been
back tracking to those around you
trying to assure them
    yes, I am OK
    really, it wasn't anything
nothing you did
I'm just fine now
just fine now
got to be, want to be
    just fine now
retreating back to the corner
the dwelling place

safe in solitude hiding
but ... don't be TOO WEIRD
no no, come out smiling
saying the right things
and don't, no don't
hurt others with
negative energy

but ... it is HARD, some times !
