tartar sauce
Use easiest homemade mayonnaise to prepare this creamy tangy sauce! The optional touch of sugar in this recipe just lightly balances all the sharp flavors. Omit the sugar if using commercially prepared mayonnaise.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup minced dill pickles
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tsps Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped or 1/2 tsp dried dill
- 1 tsp horseradish
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp sugar or maple syrup, optional
Equipment:
- Small mixing bowl
- Spoon or scraper for mixing
- Measuring cups and spoons
How to:
Mix all ingredients in the mixing bowl. Cover and chill for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled.
